Summer of Spider-Man

Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland's live-action Spider-Man movies are returning to THE ARC cinema

It's time to swing into The Arc Cinema because all eight Spider-Man films are returning to the big screen for a celebration of everyone's favourite friendly neighbourhood hero.

Whether you're a fan of Sam Raimi's original movies, or you're ready to revisit Andrew Garfield's era in the suit, or if you simply want to enjoy one of the more recent MCU films starring Tom Holland, there'll be a chance to watch every single one of the live-action films back on the big screen again.

The Spider-Man films returned to cinemas in the US between April and June for Sony100, the company's centenary celebration.

When it was first announced that the Spider-Man films were returning to cinemas in the US, British & Irish fans were curious if they'd also get the chance to rewatch the films in cinemas and the answer is yes, they will be able to, between August and September this year.

Sony's great big Spider-Man re-release begins with Raimi's trilogy starring Tobey Maguire, which were first released between 2002 and 2007.

The filmmaker's groundbreaking Spider-Man will be released in cinemas from Friday, 2 August, re-introducing viewers to Maguire's Peter Parker as he comes into his power and is faced with the threat of Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe). This will be followed a week later by the re-release of 2004's Spider-Man 2 on Friday, 9 August, which saw Peter go up against Alfred Molina's Doctor Otto Octavius (aka Doc Ock) and is arguably the best film of the entire franchise.

The Raimi trilogy re-release will be complete from Friday, 16 August when the 2007 flick Spider-Man 3 will be returning to cinemas. The film sees Spidey tackle his inner demons as well as friend-turned enemy Harry Osbourne (James Franco), Venom-infected Eddie Brock (Topher Grace), and Sandman (Thomas Haden Church).

It may be the least loved of the Raimi trilogy, but it will give film fans the chance to revisit the movie and perhaps will see them change their minds about it in the process.

Garfield's Amazing Spider-Man movies will be released next, with the 2012 reboot coming out on Friday, 23 August in cinemas. The film saw the new iteration of Peter Parker discovering his powers whilst also becoming close to Gwen Stacey (Emma Stone), and facing The Lizard (Rhys Ifans).

The following week —on Friday, 30 August— Spider-Man fans will get the chance to rewatch The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which saw Garfield's Peter be targeted by Jamie Foxx's Electro. While it set up future films in the franchise the introduction of Holland's Spidey into the MCU meant that the Garfield-led films ended there — for now, at least.

Speaking of which, Holland's Spider-Man era will also be re-released in cinemas starting with Spider-Man: Homecoming, which is being re-released on Friday, 6 September. The film saw Peter face off against villain The Vulture (Michael Keaton) with the help of Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.).

2019 film Spider-Man: Far From Home will then be re-released in cinemas on Friday, 13 September. The superhero movie saw Peter join forces with Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal), who at first appears to be a hero but turns out to be his deadliest enemy yet.

The Spider-Man moviethon will be rounded off perfectly with 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home, the film that brought all three Spider-Men together onscreen for the first time.

The film lands in cinemas again from Friday, 20 September, giving fans the chance to enjoy the thrilling, multiverse-bending sequel once again. It marked not only the return of Maguire and Garfield, but also Dafoe, Molina, Foxx and Church as Spidey's iconic villains.

Note that Far From Home is the ‘Extended Version’ and No Way Home is ‘The More Fun Stuff Version. Tickets are on sale below
